Providence Anime Conference Staff Job Description

Formal Event Manager

The Formal Event Manager at Providence Anime Conference is the person primarily responsible for organizing and supervising the formal ball at the conference. This includes determining dress requirements and training others on dress code enforcement. The Formal Event Manager will also work with the other Programming staff to schedule the event. This schedule, the dress code, and event descriptions must be delivered to the necessary convention personnel for publication. The Formal Event Manager must also work with the Technical Services staff to determine the equipment needs of the formal ball.

Responsibilities

• Organizing and supervising a formal ball.
• Determining dress code.
• Training others on enforcement of the dress code.
• Answering questions about the event via forums and e-mail.
• Scheduling the event and delivering schedules, the dress code, and event descriptions in time for publication.
• Working with Technical Services to ensure that the proper equipment will be in each of the rooms where game shows will be held.
• Communicating with the Director of Programming and providing regular status reports.

Qualifications

• Must have some experience organizing and running a dance of some kind, formal preferred.
• Dancing ability a strong plus.
• Familiarity with a variety of anime music a plus.
• Good written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
• Must reply to e-mail and forum posts in a timely manner.
• Due to the fact this is currently just one event, the Formal Event Manager is strongly encouraged to hold another staff position as well.

Additional Requirements

• All staff are required to help with the post-con pack-up after the conference ends on Sunday unless they are pre-approved to leave early at time of hire.
• All staff must be at least 21 years of age as of the first day of the conference.
• All staff are expected to follow the Staff Policies.

All Providence Anime Conference staff will receive:

• free admission to Providence Anime Conference,
• one free Providence Anime Conference shirt,
• hotel accommodations (with 3 other staff) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights,
• meals on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday,
• access to the private staff suite for rest and relaxation during off-duty hours, and
• access to the private staff forums.

All staff positions are unpaid, but you can put this on your resume.
