Charity Auction Manager
The Charity Auction Manager at Providence Anime Conference is the person primarily responsible for being the single point of contact between the selected charity and the conference. They will be responsible for relaying all relevant information to the charity's representatives. The Charity Auction Manager is also responsible for requesting donations for the auction from third party organizations and individuals as well as collecting and organizing all donated materials. In some cases, guests of the conference may be able to autograph items and the Charity Auction Manager is responsible for delivering those items to Guest Relations in a timely manner as well as arranging for their retrieval. In addition, the Charity Auction Manager is responsible for selecting the emcee for the event. During the Charity Auction, the Charity Auction Manager should track the final bids on each item for the purpose of reporting the selling prices to interested donating parties. In some cases, such as that of a Lifetime Membership, the name of the high bidder should also be recorded for the purpose of Providence Anime Conference record keeping.
Responsibilities
- Acting as the single point of contact between the selected charity and the conference.
- Requesting donations from third parties including vendors and artists.
- Working with Guest Relations to arrange autographed items for the auction.
- Selecting an emcee (which is not a staff position) for the Charity Auction.
- Collecting and organizing donated materials.
- Tracking and reporting of final bid amounts.
- Communicating with the Director of Programming and providing regular status reports.
Qualifications
- Experience working with charities a definite plus.
- Good written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
- Must reply to e-mail and forum posts in a timely manner.
Additional Requirements
- All staff are required to help with the post-con pack-up after the conference ends on Sunday unless they are pre-approved to leave early at time of hire.
- All staff must be at least 21 years of age as of the first day of the conference.
- All staff are expected to follow the Staff Policies.
Compensation
All Providence Anime Conference staff will receive:
- free admission to Providence Anime Conference,
- one free Providence Anime Conference shirt,
- hotel accommodations (with 3 other staff) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights,
- meals on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday,
- access to the private staff suite for rest and relaxation during off-duty hours, and
- access to the private staff forums.
All staff positions are unpaid, but you can put this on your resume.
